New Orleans Music Tour
Spend five days in New Orleans with Chaz as your tour leader, staying in the French Quarter and tracing the city’s music from Tremé and Congo Square to Preservation Hall, Frenchmen Street and neighborhoods beyond the Quarter. The tour includes guided music history, three planned live-music admissions, a curated Frenchmen Street jazz hop, Louisiana food and time to recharge between evening sets. Choose our March or Halloween 2027 departure.
Walk through the places where African American and Creole communities shaped New Orleans music, then hear those connections in a live performance. A local music-history guide adds neighborhood perspective, while Chaz hosts the journey from the first welcome to the final morning.
Planned Itinerary
Arrive and settle into our French Quarter hotel, then meet Chaz and your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner and an introduction to the city’s musical geography. If arrival times allow, we’ll finish with an easy first live set nearby. We intentionally save the major ticketed performances for later in the tour so a delayed flight does not mean missing a headline experience.
Explore Tremé, Congo Square and the French Quarter with a local music-history guide, tracing the African American and Creole communities that shaped jazz and brass-band traditions. After lunch and an afternoon break, reconvene for an included evening of traditional New Orleans jazz. Our planned venue is Preservation Hall; if its 2027 schedule or ticket availability requires a change, we’ll use a comparable traditional-jazz venue.
Spend part of the day exploring brass-band and second-line traditions and the neighborhoods where they continue today. After time to recharge, Chaz will lead a curated Frenchmen Street jazz hop, moving between music rooms selected around that night’s musicians and the group’s pace. The goal is to hear more than one side of the city’s live scene without turning the evening into a checklist.
Go beyond the French Quarter through Uptown, the Garden District and Central City to connect the city’s rhythm-and-blues story with its broader musical life. Our plan is to include the historic Dew Drop Inn when access and programming align, or a comparable music-history stop if needed. After free time, gather for the included farewell dinner and a final evening in New Orleans.
Enjoy a relaxed final morning for coffee, shopping or one last walk before hotel checkout and departure. We keep the morning unscheduled so guests can choose flights that work for them.
